Timothy: So this confirms why the airlines are hellbent on really taking to the barricades in 2010 in their participation negotiations with the GDSs, and why Delta and American Airlines execs were floating the idea a few months ago that the GDSs would have to pay the airlines for inventory -- and not the reverse.

Given the power of the GDSs, that ain't happening soon, but the stage has been set for further conflagurations.

I have done a few stories on Tnooz about the Farelogix-Sabre tempest. In the last round of GDS-airline negotiations, the airlines used Farelogix, ITA Software and G2 SwitchWorks as pawns in the negotiations.

Perhaps Sabre's wrath for Farelogix is part of the mix as all parties set the stage for the coming donnybrook.
