Dennis,

China actually has a very vibrant Internet. There is a Chinese equivalent to social media like Twitter and Facebook, and BBSes (forums) are very popular here. Some statistics indicate that Chinese Internet users are actually more social online than Americans, more likely to blog and engage with other users in forums. And given the lack of offline travel media in China relative to the United States, the online experience is that much more important here.

contradiction = Ying & Yang in China

No problem for them, Internet in China can't be only analysed with our occidental culture and spirit

Maggie: How will social media grow in China given the closed nature of the political system? Use of social media about travel inevitably will lead to leakage/discussions about more politically sensitive topics.

How will travel companies use social media and walk the fine line?

Vibrant social media in a closed political system seems to a contradiction in terms, no?
