Although it's tempting to get excited about iPad's travel potential at first glance (I was), I think a few key things will prevent it from being huge;

1. The screen is designed for viewing from all angles - not great for business travel. But maybe 3M will make iPad-sized privacy screens at some point.

2. How sturdy will that big sexy screen be? Scratching and breakage is bad enough on the iPhone, this could be a disaster in a backpack

3. No true GPS, and only in 3G models = mega roaming bills?

4. No camera, so no Augmented Reality

5. No Flash support. Ok, so this doesn't relate to travel, but man it p&$es me off!

Shame, because otherwise I'd be first in line to get one.

If ti doesn't play Flash video (i understand it deosn't from my reading) then it present major problems. It also has no usb port, so uploading images from a camera is problematic too - doesn't seem to be enough to leave the laptop at home yet

I think the iPad, while somewhat flawed (no built in camera, no multitasking) will be of interest to both business and leisure travelers.

One area that no one commented on regarding business travel is that the tablet format will be loads easier to use in most cramped economy sections (is there anything more aggravating than not being able to fully open the screen on your laptop). One concern for many business travelers is the apparent lack of support for Exchange out of the box, which is curious given the Exchange support in the iPhone. Perhaps it's just not highlighted on the site. And let's not forget the battery life that the iPad affords. Very few laptops make it through a cross-country flight, let alone an international flight.

But I do see the iPad as something that leisure travelers would love between the iBookStore, gaming platform and of course access to all their iTunes content. I mean at this point for the extra functionality, I don't see why you would buy a Kindle or a Nook.
