Not so cryptic from Tripology – map giant Rand McNally is the buyer

Either Rand McNally is the buyer of Tripology or chief executive John Peters has made a bizarre faux pas.

With news that a deal to acquire the agent lead-gen firm is imminent, Peters published a blog post late yesterday, giving away some clues as to the company’s identity.

Winning no prizes no poetry but a gold medal for guile, Peters wrote:

Remember when I made the announcement?
And so many people sent us emails saying we should be strong and bold.
Now we have some news! I know you’ve been waiting.
Do you want to know to whom we’ve sold?
My friends in the press keep asking for the scoop;
calling all day and night.
Not that I could tell them; it would’ve been too soon and it just wasn’t right.
And yet I did say it was a name everyone knew.
Lots of people were guessing, searching and speculating too.
LOI’s (letters of intent) some naysayers said, didn’t mean a thing.
