When their venture arms invest in applications it&#039;s just to enable valuable services that add value to their core business. It&#039;s great - and natural - that they see travel as a core application for smartphones.

On Worldmate and co - I agree these mobile &quot;travel companions&quot; have a chance to introduce something new, in particular in the leisure independent travel or unmanaged business travel segments where there is no TMC or packaged Tour Operator to glue together all the pieces of the journey.</description>

Does the business traveler&#039;s corporation mandate a Hyatt stay in Dallas? Then the mobile provider can push the traveler his or her Hyatt options when they board their flights.

And maybe we&#039;ll see a day when Travelocity is a RIM brand or Expedia is in the Nokia portfolio.
