Sixteen years ago I managed the travel supplier/vendor relationships for SABRE as their VP-Associate and Strategic Distribution. Back then Alaska Airlines was trying to become a low cost carrier to compete with Southwest and the likes. Southwest was trying to decide whether it should become a CRS/GDS participant. American Airlines and others were thinking of pulling out of SABRE. After all this time and with the major changes in technology that have taken place over the last decade, it is interesting to see that some of the players have changed but the stories seem to sound the same.
