101Holidays gets married, launches wedding honeymoon travel site

Image-led travel deals site 101Holidays is taking yet another step along the Long Tail of travel, this time with the launch of a site targeting newlyweds.

101Honeymoons, inevitably, is the third site from the founders of 101Holidays and arrives seven months after unveiling 101Shortbreaks in October 2010.

The site is based on the same principle as others from the company, using a montage of images of hand-picked trip ideas and links to the tour operator or product supplier – selected in this case with the happy couple in mind.

Co-founder Mark Hodson says the major difference with 101Honeymoons from the earlier sites is the use of an external writer and expert to pick the trips.

Holidays included on the previous sites were selected by Hodson and others in the team.

Jane Anderson (a former travel editor for You & Your Wedding magazine but now freelance) works on a profit share basis and guaranteed annual income from the site – the motivation being that well known writers or experts will improve the credibility and profile of the site.

Hodson says this arrangement will be repeated on other niche sites the company expects to launch in the coming months, featuring subject areas such as family holidays, spa and cruise.

The company previously said it had registered up to 50 101-headed domain names.
