First Choice creates pre-trip customer web portal

Neat idea from tour operator First Choice here with the launch of a microsite within its main web service that allows users to manage and prepare for their holiday.

The MyFirstChoice platform is similar to a service developed by sister operator Thomson to let existing customers log in to access a string of services related to their booking.

The user can manage their booking details at a basic level but deeper into the system there are a number of features which have been brought together to create a handy pre-trip service.

Alongside usual weather and check-in information there is also the ability to view directions from the departure airport to the customer’s home address (courtesy of a simple Google Map mashup).

Users can also add products into their itinerary including car hire, holiday insurance and in-resort activities and excursions.

But perhaps the most intuitive tool (especially for fans of pre-holiday checklists) is an interactive clipboard which documents – and allows the user to tick – such items as find passport and airport parking booking.

If such a service can be organised from within the system the user is directed to the appropriate page on the site.

Simple but effective.

NB: Full demo.
