Had the pleasure yesterday of meeting and listening to a talk from Socialnomics author Erik Qualman, an evangelist for all things social media.
Heading his discussion at a Travelzoo event in London (and obviously a nice plug for his book) was this extraordinary video outlining why companies of every hue should ignore social media at their peril.

I can not express how exceptionally pleased I am that Erik Qualman finally decided to refresh his Socialnomics video.
Last year, I blogged about the original version serving as the best example of Social Media AT ITS WORST. It was riddled with inaccuracies, used the unattributed intellectual property of others, and was blatantly hyperbolic – the proverbial triple threat of social media weaknesses.
Here is the link to “Socialnomics Should not be Voodoo Economics”: http://j.mp/7zRbc
Best of all, he finally added credits at the end acknowledging the Original “Did You Know 3.0″ video by Karl Fisch & Scott McLeod, as well as FatBoy Slim for the music.
Watch the Did You Know video here: http://j.mp/c2jZKr and see why I was so steamed at a guy trying to promote social media unintentionally, and unnecessarily subverting his own message.
I loved that – some real eye opening and surprising facts about the importance of social media.
Kevin:
It was great meeting you in the UK – thanks for the kind words!
Karl: I’m glad you like the new version better.
Best,
Erik
