TUI-owned CorsairFly will be the first airline in the world to test a new system developed by Amadeus to allow the airline’s ancillary services to be sold via the web or agent.
Amadeus claims the system is a major step forward for airlines to better manage and boost what is becoming the Holy Grail of airline revenue streams, ancillary services.
The Amadeus Ancillary Services platform works by plugging to the airline existing booking engine and allowing consumer-facing websites or agents to manage or book additional services on the airline such as extra baggage.
For intermediaries the system works by displaying all the available services in one place and allowing the agent to select each ancillary product and book in one click.
AAS also includes various ancillary product fees into the data stream fed to ATPCO.
Meanwhile Finnair is also using the new Amadeus Electronic Miscellaneous Document Service. The system allows the airline to issue, store and distribute material required by the airline in order to manage the sale of ancillary products.
