NetJets taps Aircell for Wi-Fi service

NetJets intends to outfit its private jets with high-speed Internet service from Aircell.

In the initial phase, NetJets says it will install the Aircell service on its more than 250 midsize and large-cabin aircraft, and all future aicraft in the fleet, including light-cabin  models, will come factory-equipped with the Aircell service, NetJet says.

NetJets terms the deal “the largest order for high-speed Internet service in the history of business aviation.

NetJets specializes in fractional ownership of its private jets, enabling corporations and individuals to access to its air services with only a few hours’ notice, the company says.

Travelers will be able to access the onboard Internet service from Wi-Fi enabled laptops, notebooks and personal digital assistants.
