Amadeus Cars Plus goes online with XML

Amadeus is targeting online players, including airlines, with a revamped product, Amadeus Cars Plus XML.

The solution, which uses e-Retail XML messages, streamlines existing Amadeus Web Services messsages and enables online players to implement features such as  map displays, matrix views and new search functionality, Amadeus says.

Although Amadeus is an active participant in the OpenTravel cars group, the e-Retail XML messages in Amadeus Cars Plus XML do not use OpenTravel XML standards.

However, Amadeus indeed uses OpenTravel XML standards in its back-end servers to connect to suppliers.

Amadeus Cars Plus had already been available for traditional travel agencies so now Amadeus has developed it for the online world, as well.

The launch partner for Amadeus Cars Plus XM was Transhotel, a B2B hotel consolidator, which says it tested the product in Spain and will make it available globally for its travel agency partners.
