Google declares its 25 best uses of YouTube by travel companies

Not often you hear Google talk about its favourite X, Y or Z. It is, typically, far too sensible to favour one company over another.

Nevertheless, very interesting to hear today at the Bigmouthmedia Travel Summit in London some of the best uses of web video by travel companies, selected by head of YouTube and display at Google UK, Dara Nasr.

But the headline is misleading. As Nasr says: “I’d like to give you 25 brilliant examples, but there aren’t.”

Maybe this says a lot about the creative prowess of travel companies, or the advertising and marketing agencies that they work with.

However, here are the four examples which Nasr did manage to find, all non-transactional in nature.

1. Air Zealand and the All Blacks combine for an air safety clip

2. GermanWings pokes fun at EasyJet

4. Disney aggregates family videos

However, Nasr identifies a few other examples on YouTube (all non-travel) which clearly, he feels, travel brands could learn from (at least when it comes of imagination)…
