Datalex gets Air China contract for reservations and ancillary services

Datalex won an Air China contract to power the airline’s online and call center channels for domestic and international shopping and reservations.

The plan is for Datalex to integrate its Travel Distribution Platform with TravelSky as the airline intends to build out its ancillary services offerings.

A Datalex spokesperson declined to detail what sort of ancillary services Air China has on the agenda.

“In cooperation with IBM Global Services, we will move quickly to accelerate the growth and success of the Air China direct channel in keeping with the exemplary Air China customer service standard,” says Cormac Whelan, Datalex CEO.

IBM Global Services will be tasked with the system integration work for the project, a Datalex spokesperson says.

With Air China services in the pipeline, Datalex also provides a merchandising platform to clients including United Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Aer Lingus.

It is somewhat a piece of news quite interesting on how TravelSky (a key partner of Air China) may respond to this latest move from Air China, which is hosted in TravelSky and has been inevitably relying on the maintenance and solution service provided by TravelSky over last 20-30 years.
