Delta adds Facebook check-in to online, app, mobile, kiosk, curbside options

You now can check in for your Delta Air Lines flight through its Ticket Counter app on Facebook.

Delta debuted the app last year featuring flight bookings through Facebook, but now you can check in at the social media site, as well.

For now there is no capability to pick your seat on the flight using the app, and Delta is examining ways to add it, a spokesman says.

“This makes you the first customers in the U.S. to have the ability to access your boarding pass on sites like Facebook within 24-hours of your scheduled departure,” the airline notes in a blog post.

To check in, you’ll need your confirmation or e-ticket number.

Delta already provides numerous check-in arenas, including its website, mobile apps, airport kiosks and curbside.

In addition to the new check-in functionality on Facebook, Delta also added the ability to view your itinerary details and SkyMiles balance, and also the amenities, including Wi-Fi and entertainment, on your flight.

Although Delta is the first U.S. airline to offer Facebook check-in, Malaysia Airlines introduced the service several weeks ago.

  1. Thanks for the mentioning the new feature. After we implemented the Ticket Counter on Facebook, our fans let us know that they’d like to use Facebook for checking into flights as well, now our fans can ‘share’ their travel plans with their Facebook friends, too. We’ll continue to add functionality as our fans request it. You can learn more about the new features here: http://bit.ly/hcNZ5I.
