- Independent hotel group Worldhotels is swelling the portfolio of Room Key, the web venture formed in January by a group of international brands including Wyndham Hotel Group, Choice Hotels International and InterContinental Hotels Group. Worldhotels,which says it is ‘consistently’ increasing direct bookings, brings 100,000 rooms to the platform.
- Travel social network Where Are You Now is reporting a 500% spike in visits year-on-year with around 23 million visits each month. WAYN attributes the growth to additional functionality to make the site more engaging and easier to add destinations and share images and trip advice.
- Budget Your Trip is allowing travel agents to rate travel companies via a supplier review feature. Reviews, which are written by agents, can be on anything from ease of booking to commission rates. The supplier reviews are part of a package of tools for travel agents including an itinerary builder and a customer relationship management tool.
- Facebook is the most searched for term in the UK according to the latest search trends from Experian Hitwise. The market intelligence firm also finds that one in every five searches ends up on a retail website and that two keywords is the average number of words used in a search (28% of people) followed by one keyword (21%).
