Booking.com moves up rankings, nestles in with stalwarts – Top US travel sites, April 7 2012

Priceline-owned Booking.com is beginning to feature heavily in the list of top travel websites in the US and is now sitting alongside the likes of Hotels.com and Marriott.

The hotel giant leapt over InterContinental Hotels last week with a nominal increase in market share.

Meanwhile, Travel Guides from Southwest Airlines, which have featured in the top ten destination and accommodation websites category for quite some time, fell from third to eighth spot last week.

Comments

  1. Nick Cohen says:

Tnooz – Why isn’t Booking.com listed amongst the agencies? It’s an OTA, isn’t it?

  2. Tim says:

Also – why is Hotwire in the Agency list but Hotels.com in the Destination and Accom list. Hitwise keep making these arbitrary (read makes no sense) decisions about what sites sit in what groups

    • Mette says:

Same here. Hotwire is full-service and sell air/car/cruise – not just hotels (like Booking.com, who therefore sit in accommodation list)

I for one think it’s a fair split that calls out the difference between these two types of OTAs.
