Amadeus secures two launch agencies for m-Power mobile travel app

Under development for a number of months, but Amadeus is finally ready to unleash its mobile application with two agencies in Europe announced as launch partners.

The m-Power app will be used by VCK Travel in the Netherlands and BTS Travel Experts in Belgium, with other agencies around Europe expected to be announced in the coming months.

Created in conjunction with Dutch mobile development agency Sound of Data, m-Power is essentially a white label travel application which can be re-skinned with the branding and functionality required by the OTA or travel management company.

Customers of the agency can search, book and pay for airlines, hotels and car hire services in its pre-trip mode, alongside itinerary management tools. During a trip users will be able to receive flight notifications and use location-based services such as maps as well as tap into an agency’s customer service features and obtain local information.

Post-trip tools allow users to carry out the usual social media functions of a journey but, more importantly for the corporate travel provider, allows the agency to access business analytics for compliance and reporting issues.

Amadeus is understandably now going to be making a big play for its new “revolutionary” service after keeping it relatively under the radar for a few months.

m-Power is expected to be rolled out across Europe shortly, with the UK next on the hitlist (looks like the marketing has already started).

But m-Power is not the only service being developed along similar lines by Amadeus – it also, for example, has the Amadeus Mobile Traveller application, created with Techmaster, for agencies in the Middle East and Asia.

  1. Hi Kevin,
Just wanted to clarify that the Techmaster app does allow for fulfillment. The PNR is generated immediately however the ticketing happens offline with the agency. This is because the Middle East region does not have any mobile payment options available as yet.

  2. Ahmed Youssef says:

    Dear Kevin :

One small correction, Mobile Traveller, does allow fulfillment, as PNRs are created instantly. At the moment we are only doing ticketing off line by the travel agency, due to readiness of various credit card suppliers to handle mobile payment in the region.
