Look what happened to this town on Google Earth

It’s all about how to attract attention to small destinations at the moment, following the success of a Swiss mountain village on Facebook and efforts elsewhere.

Latest indication of how thinking creatively can potentially raise the profile of a destination comes in the form of the Spanish town of Getaria.

Two whizzkids, Josetxo Perez Fernandez and Pedro Domecq Aguirre, entered the Google Model Your Town competition.

Using models, they re-created the town on Google Earth in 3D. The end result is remarkable:
