Azerbaijan Airlines speeds fans to Eurovision with mobile check-in

Dix points (10 points) for Azerbaijan Airlines this week as it introduces mobile and web check-in ahead of the influx expected for the Eurovision Song Contest tomorrow in host city Baku.

The airline has worked to a ‘tight deadline’ to enable passengers to check in, select seats and generate a boarding pass via mobile device or PC.

The carrier, which is using SITA Horizon PassengerMobile technology for the new services, will also add kiosk check-in at airports in Baku and Moscow later this year.

Earlier this week SITA unveiled a trial of NFC technology for passengers at Toulouse airport later this summer.

It is the first time Azerbaijan has hosted the often extravagant festival of pop that is Eurovision, winning last year’s event in DĂĽsseldorf, Germany.

The city’s airport, Heydar Aliyev International, will be the main gateway for performers and overseas fans entering the country.
