Mobile Travel Technologies secures $5M investment push

Happy days at Mobile Travel Technologies as it welcomes a $5 million injection of funding from DFJ Esprit, one of the largest venture capital companies in Europe.

The Ireland-based technology company says the funding round will be used to expand the teams at its Dublin HQ as well as in the UK and Philippines.

This round of investment is the first external injection of funds since the company launched in 2005.

The company already has a diverse portfolio of customers in Europe and Asia, but the capital will also be used to spearhead its growth into new markets.

DFJ Esprit effectively acts as the European arm of Silicon Valley-based Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a VC group with around $1.1 billion in funds under management.

The company has previously invested in the likes of Baidu, Overture and Skype.

MTT claims to have doubled in size every year since 2009, working with a string of travel brands including EasyJet, Jetstar, Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts and Meliá Hotels International.
