THack developer hackathon heads west to California – SFO here we come

UPDATE:

Attendees eager to see the showcase at SFO can register here.

ORIGINAL:

Can you create something amazing using travel APIs in just two weeks? But can you also do it alongside some of the smartest developers from the hottest tech region on the planet?

If the answer is “yes” (or even “maybe”), then THack @ SFO in September 2012 is where you can show your peers and the rest of the travel industry how clever you really are.

THack is Tnooz’s unique event which brings together travel industry APIs and the development community to brainstorm and create new digital travel products and web or mobile-based tools.

Developers from across the travel, tourism and hospitality industry are welcome to attend, as well as engineers and technicians from local academic institutions in the region and other industry verticals.

The event is FREE to participate and we welcome developers from anywhere in the industry and elsewhere in the digital world.

Over the coming weeks Tnooz will coordinate the collection of APIs being made available to those taking part in the event (mail us to add your API).

THack @ SFO will follow a similar path to other THacks – developers will have TWO WEEKS to create something using the APIs we are making available, as well as using any other freely available API on the web (such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, Wikipedia, et al).

A webinar will take place two weeks before the showcase to talk developers through what is available.

Those taking part will then have the opportunity to demo their efforts in front of other developers, API providers, sponsors and others at a fabulous venue on the afternoon of Thursday 20 September.

Showcase venue:

  • A special and dedicated facility within San Francisco International Airport

Developers unable to attend live can present via a pre-recorded video but must be available via Skype for questions from the judges.
