Startup entrepreneurship – the rose-tinted spectacles version? [VIDEO]

Coming up with the idea for a company can be easy, but starting and running it is far from the glamorous life which the Siliconites might have everyone believe.

It isn’t any easier just because it’s the travel industry.

Still, many, many, many budding entrepreneurs enter the travel industry every year, hoping their idea will capture the imagination of consumers or the industry and they will become the next Airbnb (love ‘em or hate ‘em, Brian Chesky et al appear are cited so often by startups as a business to emulate).

Ignore the fact that it’s an ad for an online management course provider, this clip gives a robust overview of entrepreneurship on the web.

It has a few negative points to share, but is it overly optimistic about the world of startups and running a new business?

Interesting thoughts. I woudl add just one more: don’t be discouraged if you don’t fit any of these criterias cause enterpreneurs aren’t those who fit any criteria at all. :)
By the way, I’d recommend course by Steve Blank that starts soon at Udacity: http://www.udacity.com/overview/Course/ep245/CourseRev/1 – maybe it’ll help someone to find their way in this cruel startup world. :)

The video is awesome! And, of course, it works for enterpreneurs in any industry, not just travel or tech travel. Nice statistics.

However, if you are an enterpreneur, you’ll disregard any statistics that are against you and follow your idea anyway :-)
