London to LAX – 30 years for Air New Zealand, from Walkman to iPad [INFOGRAPHIC]

Anyone remember the DynaTAC “mobile ” phone from 1982? Possibly not. But then, of course, there was the Sony cassette Walkman, a lifetime (in tech terms) before the iPod?

Ah, yes, happy days.

Reflection is all the rage at Air New Zealand this week as it marks flying 30 years on one of its most popular routes: London to Los Angeles, a trip originally taken on a Boeing 747, but now over to the smaller sister 777.

Plenty of non-techie data points in its celebratory infographic (such as a reference to the weird aerobics viral of a few years back), but interesting to see just how far personal technology has come in the 30 years, with personal and rather bulky music players evolving to become all-round entertainment and office devices.

    I love Travel.
    I live infographics.

The graphic would be more powerful if the artist would’ve used a 747 and 777 silhouette instead of a DC9 silhouette.
