Amazon brings local deals to the UK, first stop London

Move over Groupon and company, just over a year since launching local deals in the US, Amazon has introduced a similar service in the UK.

AmazonLocal offers restaurant, spa deals, events and other experiences and is currently limited to London with the company saying nothing about plans to extend to other regions.

All deals are being sourced by Amazon with a team of sales people working with local businesses.

In the US, where the daily deals service is available in more than 40 locations, it is believed some deals are sourced by Living Social, of which Amazon is the biggest shareholder.

US users also got access to a new Amazon deals application for iPhone in the past few days so it’s likely that a UK/European version won’t be too far behind.

The online retail giant has also just launched its appstore in Europe giving Android users access to a range of apps including the Skyscanner service.

  1. This is going to grow into something bigger than just coupons. For sure. Very interesting. I am way late on this.
