Ebookers updates Explorer app, draws in more social elements

Ebookers has unveiled an update to its Explorer application initially launched last May.

New features include restaurant, tours and attractions content from TripAdvisor as well as entertainment, nightlife and shopping elements from Foursquare

Apple maps have also been integrated with every destination and users can search more than 50,000 destination and activity combinations.

Native Facebook and Twitter have also been added to this version as well as iMessage integration enabling more sharing capabilities for users.

Ebookers decided not to replicate its mobile website last year when it developed the app, opting instead to work with web design specialists Fortune Cookie last year.

The online travel agency also unveiled a hotels app for the iPad last September saying at the time that it would like to integrate it further with the Explorer service.

The app has been sponsored for the first time with Discover America giving it a US theme.
