New Zealand airs Middle-earth weather forecast [VIDEO]

As part of efforts to transform itself into Middle-earth for today’s global release of the first film in The Hobbit trilogy, New Zealand has also gone all Elvish for a long-range weather forecast.

Unsurprisingly, sunshine is predicted for the summer in the ‘Shire’ with TV host Tamati Coffey transforming himself with Elven dress and presenting the forecast in Sindarin (apparently).

The stunt supports Tourism New Zealand’s ’100% Middle-earth, 100% Pure New Zealand’ ongoing campaign around the release of the film which includes a Hobbit-branded plane and inflight safety video.

Incidently, for all Hobbit fans out there, Sindarin is spoken between Elves and their friends but it is Quenyan that is used for casting spells.
