TourWrist brings latest funding round to $1.25M, heavyweights liking the 360-degree views

Not content with trousering $250,000 from winning the Travel Innovation Summit at the PhoCusWright Conference a few weeks back, TourWrist has added a further $1 million to its coffers.

The additional injection was led by Thayer Ventures (previous investor in Hipmunk and HotelMe) and individuals such as Jim Hornthal (chairman of Triporati and Travelocity alum), Robert Alter (Sunstone Hotel Investors founder) and Brad Ross (360iTours founder and president).

TourWrist says the seed investment comes ahead of an anticipated Series A round next year.

The $250,000 from its victory at the PhoCusWright event came via General Catalyst Partners, a previous investor in the likes of Airbnb, Kayak, Room77 and ITA Software.

TourWrist says the capital raise will help accelerate its technology road-map as well as marketing to hotels, cruise lines, tourism boards, online travel agencies and vacation rental providers.

The company initially got off the ground with $500,000 from friends and family.
