Online travel guide My Destination is taking the go big or go home approach with its competition offering six months travel and a $50,000 prize.
The company has partnered with hotels.com, Travelex and Viator to send someone on an all-expenses paid blogging trip taking in at least 25 destinations and picking up the $50,000 on their return.
Applicants must create a short video about a favourite destination and upload it to the website of the campaign, which is entitled Biggest, Baddest, Bucket List.
The campaign goes across Facebook and Twitter (#MyBBB) to help create momentum in the coming months.
Several travel companies and tourism organisations have gone out to the blogging community in recent years as part of marketing efforts. Arguably the most memorable is Tourism Queenland’s ‘Best Job in the World’Â campaign in 2009.
The My Destination winner will be announced in early May after a shortlist and voting process has been completed.
My Destination was founded in 2006 and received funding of £1m in late 2011.

This looks a lot like CheapOair’s Traveler of the Year contest.
Hello Rich,
There are similarities of course as many of them do now. I think it’s the sheer scale of what we’re doing. It’a a 6 months round the world trip, all expenses paid, (up to USD50k) plus, when the winner get’s back, he/she will receive 50kUSD to use for whatever they want.
We think it’s going to be great and has had a super response by all accounts after just a day.
Kind regards
Tony
It looks like a great contest! Travel around the world and $50,000 is certainly an amazing prize. This is sure to be a life changing experience for the winners.
Captain and Clark were the winners of the CheapOair Traveler of the Year contest. They received a trip to India for 30 days with $7,500 in travel expenses and won an additional $5,000 in travel on CheapOair. The couple got engaged in front of the Taj Mahal.
Best wishes on the contest!
