Say what you like about travel bloggers, when one of them gets a slot at a TED event they probably deserve at the very least a hearty congratulations.
Indeed, how many travel journos or, for that matter, travel industry folk have managed to get on-stage at one of the most high-profile events on the planet?
Keith Jenkins, he of VelvetEscape fame, spoke at a recent TEDx event at the Saxion University in the Netherlands.
The 16-minute slot (Passion, Empowerment, Social Media) covers his personal journey from an executive in the financial services industry to full-time travel blogger.
Worth a watch…

Well done Keith.
Thanks Matt!
A very inspiring TED talk! So often we do things for the wrong reasons or let fear hold us back. A great reminder of what we can do with our passion. Also a most awesome travel related success story.
Thanks for sharing.
Here is one by Robin Esrcock. He did this here in Vancouver which apparently was the biggest TedX event. http://youtu.be/S0TemlxiMdw
Spelt his last name wrong. It is Esrock not Esrcock…Oops!
And here’s one by Lavinia Spalding in Park City.

Oh, and all respect to Keith, don’t get me wrong. It’s a nice feather in your cap to score a Ted talk. But there have been a few. Here’s Andrew Evans’ too:

Congrats Keith!
And not to take away anything from this being an awesome feat for Keith, Kevin, TEDx talks are not the same as TED talks. There’s only a handful of TED conferences each year (http://www.ted.com/pages/registration) whereas there are probably hundreds of TEDx events (http://www.ted.com/tedx). From these events a tiny amount of really good videos get promoted as TED talks. The TED org is quite careful with how these are marketed and presented, in fact, they’d probably sue you if they found out you used the TED name incorrectly here Kevin
@samuel
thx for the clarification!
