Japanese tours and activities service Catarizm raises $2 million

Catarizm, the company that runs Asoview, a Tokyo-based online booking service for tours and activities, has raised $1.93 million from Globis Capital Partners and Jafco Ventures.

The company will use this fund to improve its online booking system and increase the number of call center employees.

Bookable activities on the site include sky sports, motor sports, water sports, nature and sightseeing tours, horse trekking, cooking experiences and others.

In October 2013, Asoview partnered with Yahoo Japan Travel and in December 2013, it launched a location-based activity search mobile app Holipple.

Competitors of Asoview in Japan include Veltra, PlayLife and Trippiece (raised $2 million in August 2013).

Launched (beta) in July 2012, Asoview currently lists about 2,150 activities sourced from 775 service providers.
