Top five hotel technology trends [INFOGRAPHIC]

Technology has become an integral part of hoteliers’ life, thanks to the fast adoption of technology among guests.

Currently, 68% of same day hotel bookings are made from a smartphone, says eRevMax, a hotel technology solution provider.

A recent infographic from eRevMax lists top five hospitality technology trends and how hoteliers can take advantage of this.

Key pointers from the infographic are below:

Personal devices

45% of hotel guests travel with two devices and 40% with three or more.

Takeaway: Ensure guests have adequate and easy-to-reach plugs, bandwidth capabilities for their electronic devices, and also ergonomic support for them to use it.

The Billboard effect

Increase in offline bookings of a hotel when it is listed with an Online Travel Agency (OTA) – this effect is known as Billboard effect.

Hotels experienced a 14% increase in direct bookings when they are listed in an OTA. Also, the Average Daily Rate (ADR) increased by 1.5% during this time.

Takeaway: Increase your online visibility.

Dependency on wifi

38% of the guests reported that wifi was the priority factor while booking a hotel. 85% of travellers said they wanted access to free wifi in hotels.

Takeaway: Offer wifi for free in return for guests enrolling in some programs.
