DEVICES: Some believed that every man, woman and child (okay, maybe not the last one) owning a smartphone was going to trigger a marketplace where clever developers with a working knowledge of device operating systems could create an application and conquer the world! How many creators of a consumer mobile app will consider their product a financial success at the end of 2018?

Less than 0.01%, according to new research from Gartner.

Of paid applications, about 90% are downloaded less than 500 times per day — and earn less than $1,250 a day.

So those looking at mobile apps as a road to riches might have to think again.

    This headline is a little misleading. As a developer, you can make great money and it’s one of the most in-demand jobs right now in the tech field. I would hate to think this would discourage anyone from this career path.
