The next thing Silicon Valley should disrupt is… itself

STARTUPS: Silicon Valley is held up, quite rightly in some respects, where good things happen to those that come up with a great tech idea and work tirelessly to make it succeed. But for every Twitter or Uber there is inevitably an over-funded startup with a huge sense of self-importance. That culture, some argue, does the region no favours at all (not least when others are trying desperately to imitate it).

There’s a problem with Silicon Valley and the subcultures that imitate it.

It’s a design bug woven into people’s identities and sense of self-worth.

Influential and otherwise very smart people will deny till their last breath that it even exists. But I believe it does and should be fixed before it gets any worse.
