Social media and fancy video to lure people to the latest Best Job in Travel

New year, new job? First Choice is going the way of Tourism Queensland and others by recruiting a member of the public to become its new water slide tester.

The video, apparently made using tilt shift techniques, shows the necessary requirements for the role and encourages anyone interested to apply on the tour operator’s Facebook page.

It’s not the first time the travel and tourism sector has reached out to the community to help promote destinations or, in this instance SplashWorld resorts. Tourism Queenland’s Best Job in the World is the best known but others include Lowcostholidays‘ Joliday and VisitEngland’s Fan in a Van.

T&Cs of the First Choice job include Facebook membership (although ‘Likes’ won’t be a deciding factor), a £20,000 annual salary (pro-rata), six-month contract and a holiday (at the end) at one of the operator’s all-inclusive properties.

Was this mis-categorized? I beileve this might be the suckiest job in the world.

The Queensland job involved working in one of the most unique and authentic travel environments, where this one would be hard pressed to convince anyone that it is not one of the most artificial and commonplace travel experiences…

A bit sad if you ask me…
