Wanderfly provides branded travel inspiration
Here’s an image of a Wanderfly page featuring Mashable’s recommendation of Seattle for a tech-savvy trip.
The page features a brief description of Seattle, some photos and possible activities sourced from entities such as foursquare and Yelp. You can also click over to other tech-savvy cities recommended by Mashable.
Each brand’s recommendations are geared to resonate with like-minded folks, Wanderfly says. For example, Mashable’s favored trips should find a receptive audience with gadget lovers and geeks, while Jaunted’s recommendations may find a welcome audience with pop culture trend trekkers.
The featured WanderLists can be accessed from My Wanderlists on the Wanderfly homepage.
Wanderfly had 16 launch partners for this new feature.
So, what is the business relationship between Wanderfly and its new partners?
“The model is not a revenue one at this point,” says Mara Begley, a Wanderfly spokesperson. “The model is a traffic and engagement play right now. We feel it’s a real win-win for us and the brands.”
Begley says the partners are helping to build Wanderfly content and traffic.
“Just having these top brands on our site helps build exposure, but in addition several partners are doing some type of promotion to drive traffic to their Wanderlists,” Begley says. “In addition, we think these partnerships may eventually expand in a way that could lead to revenue.”
