Alert move: Travelocity to tweets from airports about Thanksgiving travel

Travelocity is getting very social about the Thanksgiving travel crush this year as it will be tweeting various updates from five of the busiest airports in the US.

Travelocity spotters will take up positions Nov 22 and 23 at the following airports, with Travelocity’s respective Twitter handles for them: Chicago O’Hare, @flyfromchicago; Dallas/Fort Worth, @flyfromdallas; Los Angeles, @flyfromla; LaGuardia in New York, @flyfromnewyork; and Dulles International in Washington, D.C., @flyfromdc.

The Travelocity spotters will be tweeting updates about security lane tie-ups, flight cancellations and delays.

The company has been dispatching its Thanksgiving task forces to US airports for the last 11 years, although tweeting wasn’t part of the mix until 2009.

No word about whether they will be handing out any free turkeys.
