Amadeus invests in CrowdVision to help improve the airport experience

Amadeus Ventures has invested in CrowdVision which helps airports manage passenger flow.

London-based CrowdVision uses video-based people tracking software and AI to analyse queues and passenger flow to help airports create a better experience.

The company also offers solutions to the retail space, convention centres and transport hubs.

According to the company’s website its customers already include Gatwick, Heathrow and London City airports.

IATA figures reveal 7.2 billion passengers are expected to travel in 2035 – almost double the 3.8 billion that travelled in 2016.

Services such as that provided by CrowdVision enables airports to shorten queuing times at security and check-in as well as make faster decisions at busy times.

This is the 11th investment for Amadeus Ventures and comes after its investment in indoor-mapping specialist Situm in December and Avuxi last October.

Suzanna Chiu, head of ventures at Amadeus says:

“Together with CrowdVision, we will be able to help airports to better anticipate and respond to traveller flows for better real-time, planning and investment decisions.

CrowdVision CEO Fiona Strens adds:

“CrowdVision complements the existing Amadeus Airport IT portfolio to deliver additional insights and benefits to customers. Working with Amadeus will give us access to a huge network of airports and travel partners around the world.”

Amadeus Ventures was launched in 2014 and has already invested in Betterez, Bluesmart, BookingPal, Flyr and Yapta.
