OneTwoTrip buys flight metasearch app Corner

Flight metasearch application Corner has been acquired by Russian online travel agency OneTwoTrip.

A statement on both the mobile app’s website and Facebook page confirms the acquisition and says the app has been closed down.

The Facebook statement from Corner also says the team have received job offers from OneTwoTrip.

Few other details have been provided although OneTwoTrip chief Mikhail Sokolov said the acquisition was part of the strategy to increase its mobile share of sales.

“The technology and product development gained as a result of the deal will let OneTwoTrip speed up flight search.

We offer the most convenient desktop version and mobile application to our customers. And of course, the search speed is one of the key factors of user experience, especially for mobile devices. Acquired technologies will let us improve our proprietary algorithms and provide, probably, the fastest mobile flight search in the market.”

He adds that all user accounts will be transferred to the OneTwoTrip Mobile App.

Most recently Corner, (Startup pitch here), launched its app in the US and Canada.

OneTwoTrip itself is just over four years old. It has received funding of $25 million and acquired hotel price comparison service DealAngel in August 2013.
