Google lets mobile catch up with desktop, launches Destinations

Nearly three years ago, Google made a big effort to expand its travel search offering so that users could get inspiration for destinations.

The destination advice tools sat at the top of the search engine results, with tips and recommendations for certain cities or regions featured alongside things to do or attractions.

Whilst those tools have evolved a fair amount in the intervening three years, Google has not looked to replicate or create a mobile friendly version of the service.

Until now, anyway.

With quite a lot of fanfare, mobile users of the search giant were introduced to Destinations on Google this week, bringing over a lot of the elements from the destination tools that were introduced three years ago.

The idea, of course, is to give consumers on-the-go a better way of finding ideas for where to go, but there are a few extra bits and pieces that have been included.

In particular, Google has added some of the search tools from its flights and hotel products into the platform.

Google says:

“So instead of jumping between a dozen links or tabs to get the information you need, you can sit back and scroll—and leave the heavy lifting to us.”
