THack Berlin – winners, presentations, pictures and more

Nearly 100 developers took part in our debut hackathon in Germany, conveniently timed ahead of this week’s ITB Berlin extravaganza.

THack Berlin took place at the Factory co-working space in the city over the weekend of 28 February-1 March and was supported by Lufthansa, GetYourGuide, Sabre Dev Studio and 33entrepreneurs.

Participants were tasked with finding solutions to these four travel challenges:

  • Inspiration, discovery, memories
  • Local concierge
  • Accommodation finder
  • Route planner

Here follows a list of the winners from the various categories:

  • Appentura: Based on user preferences, including the risk of unusual and risky outcomes, this application presents the traveller with unique “surprise” recommendations for local tours and activities depending on blocks of open time within the destination.

This looks like such a great event! I wish I could have been there, and congratulations to all the teams!

It would be interesting to have a look back at all the hacks to see what trends emerged and stayed the course over the last few years. It is telling that there have been relatively few hacks using Wearables or iBeacons. Even Facebook/Twitter integrations seem to have fallen by the wayside.
