Tiket acquired by Indonesian ecommerce platform Blibli

Online travel agency startup Tiket has been snapped up by fellow country consumer brand Blibli.

Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed but is said to started have at the turn of the year.

Six-year-old Tiket has established itself as a mid-scale player in Indonesia and focuses on flights, hotels, car rental, rail tickets and events.

It had raised only $1 million in funding to date.

Blibli is a generalist ecommerce platform in the country and plans to keep the Tiket brand in place, with the majority of the management team staying on (CEO Jonggi Manalu is retiring, to be replaced by George Hendrata from Djarum, owner of Blibli).

Tiket’s main competitor in Indonesia is Traveloka, which operates across south-east Asia. Earlier this month Traveloka added a flights plus hotel hotel option to its site.
